Recreatiegebied Het Twiske is located north of Amsterdam, between Zaandam and Purmerend, in the municipality of Oostzaan. The 650 hectare area consists of ponds, ditches, meadows and groves. The largest lake, the Stootersplas with an area of ??approximately 200 hectares, was created by sand extraction for the construction of the Coentunnel route.

In 1972 the area was established as a recreational area with many recreational facilities, including a number of beaches. Back in the 1980s, nudist recreation was allowed throughout the area, but now there is one designated section. Until 2010 it was recreated naked on Wezenlandstrand. In 2011, the naturist site moved to the less remote and larger Baaiegat beach. Initially it was fairly open on the main cycle path, but due to the growing vegetation it has now become out of sight. The nudist beach is located on an island and is accessible on one side via a wooden bridge. There is no specific nude beach sign, but the information board at the entrance does indicate the area as a naturist area. The nudist beach consists mainly of sunbathing areas and has a sandy beach on the bay side over about half its length. The sandy beach that first ran its entire length was shortened in 2020. On the side of the Stootersplas there is a (new) small sandy beach.
Dogs are allowed on a leash on the rear area , which is accessible directly from the entrance take the path along the water on the left. In the dog area, the swimming water at the Stootersplas is accessible via a bathing ladder.

There is a toilet facility on the nudist beach. It also has two Jeu de Boules courts and a volleyball court.

Traditionally, a New Year's Dive will take place on January 1 at 2:00 PM.

The bay is separated from the Stootersplas by a beam construction. The bathing water at the bay has a gently sloping bottom with a demarcated area with a maximum water depth of 1.40 meters. Outside the drift line, the water in the bay hardly gets deeper, but there are many underwater plants here.

At the small sandy beach and at the two swimming steps on the Stootersplas, the bottom slopes quite steeply and the swimming water quickly becomes deep. Here the bathing water is only suitable for experienced swimmers.
