General
The Houtribdijk, the 25 km long dike between Enkhuizen and Lelystad (N302), was constructed between 1957 and 1976 as part of the Zuiderzee Works, with the aim of reclaiming part of the IJsselmeer. In 2003 it was decided to abandon the reclamation of the Markermeer that this created.
The dike was reinforced in the period 2017-2020, because this primary flood defense no longer met the current safety standards. The part between Enkhuizen and Trintelhaven (a refuge halfway up the dyke) has been reinforced with sand on both sides of the dyke. On the side of the Markermeer, the Trintelzand nature reserve has been created, which is currently not accessible. On the north side, the side of the IJsselmeer, an approximately 9 km long sandy beach has been created.
At Trintelhaven, a beach section of approximately 450 meters is used by textile holidaymakers. Kitesurfing is prohibited here, but the area is also used for this. The remaining beach section is behind a fence. According to the
spatial substantiation for the environmental permit is extensive shore recreation is no problem here.
On the part behind the fence, nudist recreation takes place on a limited scale. On busy days, the first part is also used by textile holidaymakers. For accessibility, see the
route page.
The area is not designated for nude recreation, but is suitable for nude recreation due to its remote location and the limited parking options nearby. The motorway is (largely) behind the dike, but there is a view of the location from the bicycle path about 70 meters away. In the opinion of this site, this distance is so great that there can be no question of a (shocking) confrontation. In time, the view of the beach may be further reduced due to the growing vegetation. The nude recreation here is at your own risk.
The nudist beach on the water consists of a strip of sand with a varying width. Furthermore, to prevent sand drifts, the greater part of the new sandy beach has been covered with soil and sown with grass. There are no facilities available, but the roadhouse
Roadhouse Checkpoint Charlie is located near the parking lot.
The last part of the sandy beach (side Enkhuizen) is also within sight of the busy road and can be closed due to traffic. road safety better not be used for nude recreation. Due to its vastness, the area lends itself well to a long naturist walk.
There is no official bathing water location here, so bathing water quality is not monitored here. The bottom slopes gently, but there is no defined swimming area. Currents can change the soil conditions and there is also a warning for quicksand.
