Schiermonnikoog is the smallest of the five inhabited Wadden Islands. The only village on the island, is about 3 km from the Veerdam and also bears the name of the island. There are no cars on the island tourists allowed. The island has a very extensive system of hiking and cycling trails. In 1989, Schiermonnikoog, with the exception of the village center and the agricultural polder, a National Park. The island Schiermonnikoog can be reached with the ferry service & nbsp; Lauwersoog - Schiermonnikoog. As a place, suitable for undressed public recreation, as intended 430a of the Penal Code, the North Sea beach is designated with exception of the part between the beach posts 2 and 7.
At the beach entrances where nude recreation is permitted, this will also be the case on the information boards.
Nude recreation is permitted on the beach south of pole 2 to the beach entrance Bancks Bank. This area is less suitable for this beach recreation than the eastern location. There is one in front of the beach sandbank, making it difficult to reach the sea. In the stream between it beach and sandbar, which is flooded at high tide, many pools of water remain even at low tide. Recreating on the sandbar at low tide is dangerous, because there is a chance containment by the rising water.
There is a path on the dune side where you can walk regularly.
The beach is for the most part overgrown, only on the on the dune side there are small parts with a sandy beach.
