Nudist beach Neeltje Jans

The former work island of Neeltje Jans is 59 hectares in size and is located halfway between the Oosterscheldekering between Schouwen and Noord-Beveland. After completing the Oosterscheldekering in 1986, Natuurmonumenten and Het Zeeuwse Landschap bought the island and transformed it into a nature reserve that is part of the Oosterschelde National Park. On the sea side, a beautiful beach has been created with a length of 2 km. On the south side is a slufter where the seawater flows into the plain behind the dunes at spring tide. The beach has a textile beach, a nudist beach and a (unofficial) kite beach. With 300,000 visitors per year, the amusement park WaterLand Neeltje Jans, with the theme of the Delta Works, is a major crowd puller on Neeltje Jans. The National Park Oosterschelde has the visitor center here.

Since July 7, 2007 nude recreation is officially allowed here. The municipality of Veere had initially banned nude recreation here, but a number of fines for nude sunbathing were overturned by the court. In consultation with the NFN, the municipality has now designated a zone with a length of 750 meters for nude recreation.

Nude recreation is allowed on the middle beach section of Neeltje Jans on the sea side.
The beach section has a length of approximately 750 meters and is signposted. Because of the natural value and nature protection, it is forbidden to recreate in the dunes. There is strict control and violators run the risk of a fine.

There are no facilities on the nudist beach. On the north side, 700 meters from the nudist beach beach pavilion Atlantis is present.

There is no direct bath supervision, the nearest rescue station is at the beach pavilion on the north side about 700 meters away.
