The Loenensche Buitenpolder is a nature reserve of approximately 80 hectares on the north bank of the Waal between Herveld and Slijk-Ewijk. Nude recreation takes place over a large part on the banks of the Waal, from the bridge to the campsite. The quiet beaches on the Waal are little used by textile recreationists and are particularly suitable for nude recreation. Bosschage screen off the beaches from the struinpad at the back (official walking route). For the location of the nudist beach look at the route page.
In March 2019, a large-scale redevelopment took place over part of the nudist beach. Because two channels have been dug from the Waal to the lakes behind, the beach has been divided into 3 different parts, which are connected by new bridges. There is a view of the beach from the new bridges, making this part less suitable for nudist recreation.
The part on the side of the Tacitus bridge (A50) over the Waal up to the historic lock (the area not shown to the west on the map below) was not covered by these plans. With the exception of the parts near the bridges, the beach is still very suitable for nude recreation.
The nature reserve is not equipped for beach recreation, so there are no facilities. There are no bins, so bring all trash and keep the beach clean.
Recreate only on the sandy beaches and not in the area behind. There are many stones on the sandy beach.
There is no official swimming location here, so the water quality is not monitored. Swimming between the groynes is not prohibited, but is not recommended. A strong current can also arise between the groynes due to passing ships. Swimming in the fairway is dangerous and is prohibited.
