Katwijk aan Zee is known to many as a fishing village, but nowadays it is mainly a family seaside resort. The beach has a length of approximately 4.5 km, of which 2 km on the boulevard of Katwijk aan Zee. On the south side is the extensive dune area Berkheide, which is part of the Hollands Duin nature reserve.
Katwijk aan Zee does not have an official nudist beach, but nude recreation is tolerated on the south side of Katwijk. Almost the entire tolerance area lies within the territory of the neighboring municipality of Wassenaar, but is best reached via Katwijk.
Nude recreation is tolerated southwards from the second beach entrance at post 89.250 to the third beach entrance (Wassenaar 5 Berkheide). This area is not signposted. There is also nude recreation on the next beach section to the beach entrance Wassenaar 4 De Ruyter.
There are no facilities on the beach. The beach pavilion Willy Zuid is located at the beach entrance at post 88.
There is no direct bath supervision on the nudist beach, the nearest lifeguard station is at the beach entrance at pole 88, 1100 meters from the northern border.
De dichtstbijzijnde officiële zwemwaterlocatie is Katwijk aan Zee - Boulevard zuid op 2200 meter afstand. Voor uitgebreide informatie over deze zwemwaterlocatie, kijk op de site van zwemwater.nl.
Het zwemseizoen is momenteel gesloten, vanaf 1 mei wordt de zwemwaterkwaliteit weer gecontroleerd.
