General

Hoek van Holland is the seaside resort of Rotterdam. The beach's location is unique at the beginning of the Nieuwe Waterweg, the gateway to Rotterdam. On beautiful summer days it is very busy on the Maasdijk (N220), the only access road from Rotterdam to Hoek van Holland. The opening of the Hoekse Lijn, the metro line from Rotterdam, in early 2023 has made the beach much more accessible. Travel time from the heart of Rotterdam to the beach is only 37 minutes. Nude recreation has been taking place since 1975 on the beach section between the beach entrances Stuifkenszand and Vlugtenburg.

In 2008 the beach was completely changed by the coastal reinforcement. With sprayed-on sand, there is a new beach and a new dune area laid out. The breakwaters, the so-called Delfland heads, have disappeared under the sand as a result. The new row of dunes has been constructed approximately 80 meters in front of the existing dunes, creating a kind of valley between the dunes. Depending on the existing dune area, recreation could still be done, but now it is fenced-off and forbidden area. (art. 461 Sr.). With the redevelopment of the area, both beach pavilions on the nudist beach have also disappeared. Standing along the row of dunes a number of beach sleeping houses , of which 6 are on the nudist beach.

Nude recreation is allowed between posts 116.12 and 116.62 . (See also the route page )

The area where nudist recreation is permitted is signposted. Nude recreation in the dunes is no longer allowed. There are no facilities on the nudist beach. (toilet is no longer available on the nudist beach as of 2016, but there is a toilet at the beach entrance).

On the south side, at the beach entrance, is the beach pavilion BeachLine. The beach pavilion is only 150 meters away from the nudist beach on the north side Elements Beach.

On the nudist beach is a small post from the 's-Gravenzandse Rescue Brigade .
The large post is at the beach entrance Vlugtenburg.

De dichtstbijzijnde officiële zwemwaterlocatie is Hoek van Holland op 1400 meter afstand. Voor uitgebreide informatie over deze zwemwaterlocatie, kijk op de site van zwemwater.nl.

Het zwemseizoen is momenteel gesloten, vanaf 1 mei wordt de zwemwaterkwaliteit weer gecontroleerd.
