It is forbidden to recreate in the dunes. The dunes are planted with marram grass to retain the sand. The marram grass disappears by recreating in the dunes. The dunes then become bare. The sand is blown away by the wind and the dunes disappear. Only in the front dunes is it possible to recreate.
There are breakwaters along the beach, these disappear completely under water at high tide; so be careful!
