General

The Veluwemeer, which runs approximately from Elburg to Harderwijk, was created by the reclamation of Flevoland. The area around the Veluwemeer has an important tourist function, with mainly water and beach recreation. One of the beaches on the Veluwemeer is Ellerstrand, southeast of Biddinghuizen.

Nudist recreation has been taking place on a small part of Ellerstrand Noord (south side) for years. The nudist beach is not indicated with signs, but it is stated on the information boards that nude recreation is allowed here.

In 2020, the municipality came up with the ambition for a quality boost for the beaches in the municipality of Dronten, including Ellerstrand Noord. The condition was that an entrepreneur was found for the maintenance. This is not the case at Ellerstrand-North, which is why the beach is returned to nature. The sanitary facilities have now been removed and the rubbish bins will also be removed. Paid parking has been (for the time being) maintained.

The Facebook group (public) is Vrienden van het Ellerstrand founded to convince the municipality of the importance of a well-maintained nudist beach. 250 visitors have already signed for the preservation of the nudist beach.

The nudist beach is located northeast of Restaurant the de Klink. This restaurant also has a small marina. The nudist beach can be reached via various passages in the hedge, then over the cycle path and via a number of paths through a narrow green strip with high bushes.

The beach consists for the most part of sandy beach with a small part of sunbathing areas.

There are three bowl-shaped swimming areas in front of the beach, with a very gently sloping bottom, within which the bathing water is a maximum of 0.7 meters deep. This swimming area is not demarcated by a drift line of the fairway, which runs just in front of the beach. The fairway is recognizable by the buoys.

Het zwemseizoen is momenteel gesloten, vanaf 1 mei wordt de zwemwaterkwaliteit weer gecontroleerd.
