With 21 km of beach, the municipality of Bergen has one of the longest beaches in the Netherlands. The beach is divided into different zones: activity beaches, sun beaches and nudist beaches. The zones are indicated on the beach itself by the color of the head of the beach pole:
orange = activity beach, yellow = sun beach, pink = nudist recreation beach.
The municipality of Bergen has 2 officially designated nudist beaches; the beach between Bergen - School and the beach described here at Egmond Binnen. Furthermore, nudist recreation also takes place at north of Egmond.
Nude recreation has been tolerated on the beach at Egmond Binnen for a long time and in 2013 the municipality formally designated the beach as a nudist recreation beach. The beach poles now have a pink head.
Because of its location behind the extensive nature reserve the Noordhollands Duin reserve the secluded beach section is very suitable for nudist recreation; however, it is difficult to reach by car. For the route description look at the route page.
Nude recreation is allowed between posts 41.00 and 42.75 (near beach stroke 36: Vlewoseweg). Between pole 40.75 and 41.00 is a small piece of activity beach (this used to be a nudist beach) of 250 meters. This part is still the most used for nude recreation.
There are no facilities on the nudist beach, the nearest beach pavilion is 550 meters from the northern border.
Nudist recreation also occurs in the quiet area between strands 36 and 37, at some distance from the entrances.
