The Brielse Maas (also called Brielse Meer), north of Brielle, is a recreation area of approximately 800 hectares around an arm of the river that was closed in 1950. The area with a length of approximately 10 km has recreational opportunities on both banks. On the north bank (Zoom East) nudist recreation is allowed in a section. In 2011 naturism seemed to be coming to an end in this beautiful place. The Recreation Board Voorne-Putten-Rozenburg had the intention to cut back on the maintenance of the beach by, among other things, mowing the grass only twice a year. This intention has been reversed due to protests by visitors to the nudist beach, supported by 549 signatures. The regular visitors have united in the Brielse Meer Public Naturist Area Foundation (SONBM) and are taking over part of the maintenance. In the spring, the foundation holds a DIY day to carry out maintenance work. The SONBM has its own website en Facebook page with info about the nudist beach.
The nudist beach has a large sunbathing area with two small sandy beaches on the water. There is a volleyball court and a tennis table. Furthermore, there are no facilities available. There is, however, a toilet block just before the nudist beach.
A few free-standing trees offer sufficient shady spots. The jetties are i.v.m. with the poor condition in which they were demolished.
The bathing water is approximately 1.50 meters deep and has a demarcated area.
It is not allowed to swim in the nude outside this area.
